Frankincense can be used for a variety of purposes, including supporting spiritual and meditative well-being and in beauty routines. Young Living uses the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree found in North Africa, near the Arabian Peninsula, to produce Frankincense oil. Scores are made in the bark to allow the sap to flow. This sap is then left to harden for three months. The hardened sap is harvested, taken to our partner farms in Europe, and steam distilled. The result is pure Frankincense oil. This incredible oil contains the naturally occurring compound alpha-pinene. This compound gives the oil its signature rich, balsamic scent and is the reason it is a key ingredient in many of Young Living’s beloved essential oil blends.
